Objective

To create a visually compelling portfolio website that showcases David's unique artwork and reflects his creative style.

RESEARCH

I conducted interviews with David Weeks and three of his previous clients to gain a deeper understanding of his expectations for the website and to identify the elements that attract buyers to his artwork.

Initial Mock-up

In designing the mock-up, I prioritized space for drawing to encourage user interaction and ensured easy navigation access, based on feedback from David and his clients. This approach aligns with their preferences, enhancing the overall user experience.

FINAL LANDING PAGE

The initial design of the landing page was overly complex, which didn't compliment the sketch effect, as users found it challenging to draw on an already detailed canvas. Additionally, the left-aligned navigation bar proved to be more disruptive than helpful, with frequent accidental interactions interrupting their creative process. However, navigating the site by scrolling was received positively by users, who found this method refreshingly different from typical navigation experiences they were accustomed to.

CONCLUSION

Through this project, I learned the importance of simplicity in design to enhance user engagement and the effectiveness of intuitive navigation. The feedback revealed that users prefer clean, interactive spaces that encourage creativity without overwhelming them. This has been a valuable lesson in balancing functionality with aesthetic appeal, ultimately shaping a more user-friendly experience.
